Digital infrared thermal screening is a specialized physiological test designed to detect angiogenesis, hyperthermia from nitric oxide, estrogen dominance, lymph abnormality and inflammatory processes including inflammatory breast disease, all of which cannot be detected with structural tests.  Thermography can be used to track the progress of your therapy, identify possible food sensitivities, compare your body’s response to cold temperatures, and more. Contact Thermography of Wisconsin to help determine the best approach to address your health concerns.

preparing for your thermography screening and the procedure

Preparing for your scan is simple, but crucial for accurate results. Avoid any stimulating therapy, such as physical therapy, electromyography, acupuncture, or chiropractic work within three days your thermography appointment. Do not smoke or participate in vigorous exercise 2 hours before the screening. Do not use any lotions, liniments or creams, or shave the day of your scan. Avoid strong sunlight exposure the day of your appointment. If you can, complete any forms in advance and provide details to the questionnaires and bring them with you. Be sure to bring along your list of medications and/or supplements.

You will be provided with a cover-up and given time to adjust to the temperature of the 21oC (69.8oF) room while the thermographer reviews the questionnaire and overview of your medical history with you and updates your electronic chart. Being accurate and thorough is critical for the doctors to have an accurate understanding of your health history, your current complaints and your images. This part of the screening process takes the longest!

Depending on the type of screening, you will be in various states of undress and seated or standing for the various images. The thermographer will ask you to turn and face different directions. The lights will be turned down so that the thermographer can better focus your images on the computer screen. When all the images have been taken and saved, you are able to dress, pay for the service, and go on your way. You are encouraged to ask questions at any time!
